The Royal Wedding is around the corner and everyone is talking about it, but the question is what will the Royal Wedding First Dance be and what song will they choose to dance to on the big day? Bookmakers such as Ladbrokes are even taking bets on the Wedding First Dance song.
As a professional dance teacher and former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer my suggestion would be a classy and elegant first dance. I have read the stories that Prince William is a big fan of house music and when he was younger his favourite artists included Michael Jackson and MC Hammer. But we can’t imagine Will dancing to MC Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This” with the delicate Kate in his arms.
As an expert of choreographing Wedding First Dances I would suggest the Waltz or a smooth Foxtrot. Will and Kate should show their graceful moves, beautiful posture, elegant arms and soft footwork in the dance. I would also spice it up with some slow spins and underarm turns, side by side positions and rocks, leadings to a gorgeous back lounge position at the end. This will be the “picture pose” which the paparazzi would fight over.
My wedding first dance song choice for the royal couple would be “Have I Told You Lately That I love You” by Van Morrison preferably the Waltz version or the classic Wedding First Dance Song “Three Times a Lady” by Lionel Richie. I also like choreograph the first dance to 'Everything' by Michael Bubble and 'I'm Yours' by Jason Mraz. These songs are amazing for the first dance and are always sure to wow wedding guests.
As a future bride myself, my wedding first dance will be to the Brian McKnight classic “Back At One”, a song which my fiancé and I love. My upcoming wedding in August has made me even more excited about upcoming Royal Wedding and I can’t wait to see what Prince William and Kate will reveal as a their Wedding First Dance. I am definitely going to watch it.
